Idaho Open Archery Tournament

Shawn and the boys had an archery tournament in Pocatello. We had a great time spending the weekend together. They did not place this time but there is always next time! We have had a crazy month Moab for Thanksgiving, came home for 2 days and left for Vegas for the NFR, came home for 3 days and headed to Pocatello. Fun times!

Snow in St. George. Have you ever seen snow on a cactus?

Hats off to another great year in Vegas! The weather was a little chilly this year but it was still a lot warmer than home. This year was the first year I was able to watch some of the Miss Rodeo America queen contest. It has always been on my wish list and it finally worked out. Two of the girls horses fell down so it was wild and crazy but oh so much fun. They are not allowed to ride their own horse. They have stock contractors bring in the horses for the girls to ride. I pretty much shopped til I dropped! It was pure HEAVEN Ü

Moab-Thanksgiving 2013

Mike and Gayle Dalpais and Bill and Reta Smith joined us as well as Bishop Loveland and his wife Annette. The Loveland's ran into some bad luck when he broke his back end trying to get up a climb. It was our 1st trail Hells Revenge. We had a good laugh when we asked him if we get a free ticket to heaven for pulling the bishop out of hell!

Kyle and Kolt LOVED having their own Jeep!

Thanksgiving was a little different for us this year. We had Thanksgiving dinner with my family then we loaded up and headed to Moab. Shawn and Kyle have been working the last 3 months trying to get Kyle's jeep ready. I was a bit nervous having Kyle drive the trails for the first time but it all worked out just fine. He did a great job and his Jeep is a climbing Jessie!

O Christmas Tree

Well it's official, we have a new family tradition! This is the 2nd year we have gone and cut down a fresh Christmas tree for our family room. We have an artificial tree upstairs and this beauty downstairs! It's so fun to be able to create these memories as a family. I sure hope the boys will carry on some of our traditions when they have families of their own.

R.I.P. Smokie

Our sweet little old Smokie passed away last night. She has been with us for almost 19 years. We got her as soon as we built our home. She is older than the boys! She was a special kitty that pretty much was our garage cat. She LOVED the boys and anytime they were outside or in the garage she was right by their side, often times she would follow them over to my dads and meow at the boys through the french doors on their patio. She will be forever missed but never forgotten. We love you mokie!!

Be A Girl Shoot For A Cure

I was so impressed that Shawn and the boys actually stepped up to the plate a dressed up like girls to support a great cause. We had a great time at the DI trying on dresses not to mention all the laughs and looks they got as they searched for the perfect one. Kolt actually won the best dressed male under 16 category! I have to say, I am thankful I was blessed with BOYS... I did not like them borrowing my make up!

Opening Morning Of The Elk Hunt 2013

Kyle was able to get this spike opening morning of the elk hunt. He said he was able to get within 18 yards. They all still managed to come home with a smile even with camping in a tent in the snow and blowing two tires on the horse trailer on the way home! My country boys can survive.

Archery 2013

Kyle tagged this buck up at our property on Sour Dough. He was able to get within 40 yards. He was excited and said he would much rather take a smaller buck with his bow than a big one with his rifle.

Kyle's First Job

Kyle got his first job right after he turned 16. He is working at Fremont High School doing maintenance. He worked a little bit during the school year last year and all summer. It's not been easy either, he has had to be at work by 6am. I have been so proud to see him grow and be so responsible. He has a whole new respect for the value of hard earned cash. He will soon be able to see the rewards when he gets his Jeep all done. He plans on getting a lift, new tires and lockers.

Calgary Stampede 101 Hell or High Water 2013

We had a great time in Canada as well as the Calgary Stampede Rodeo, Chuck Wagon races and night show. The weather was nice for us our hole trip. It's amazing to see the show really did go on after the floods they experienced just two weeks before. The city did an amazing job with clean up and everything took place with no problems. The night show blew us away. It was produced by a company out of Beijing China. It reminded me of the opening ceremony of the Olympics. It was unbelievable! The chuck wagon races were a riot so much action going on. They gave away 1 million dollars just for the chuck wagon races alone. Each outrider earns $100.00 a mount with 9 heats a night 10 days straight I would say that's some good money. The winners of each event in the Calgary Stampede got to fill their wranglers with a $100,000.00 check. not too bad for an 8 second ride! It was so fun to watch the best of the best compete at such a prestige rodeo. Everyday after the rodeo the round winner was presented with a bronze statue. Something I'm sure they will never forget!
