NFR Las Vegas 2012

One of my favorite places to shop! This place is a cowgirls dream come true!

Tuf Cooper brought George Strait up on stage at the 1st round Buckle ceremony.
Angie Burton- former Miss Rodeo Ogden has carried the American flag at the NFR for several years now.

Another great year at the NFR. Las Vegas. It's always exciting to watch and cheer on our Utah Cowboys & Cowgirl. The NFR pays over 6 million dollars to the contestants. Each round can earn you $18,000.00 with 10 rounds I would say that's a pretty good chunk of change. So far the Utah boys have done pretty good. Hopefully we will be able to call one of our own a world champ!

Christmas Tree Adventure

Shawn thought it would be fun for us to go and cut down our own Christmas tree this year. We started out with a yummy breakfast at Moore's Cafe in Perry then we headed just outside of Yost for our Christmas tree adventure. We had to drive for quite a while until we found the perfect one. There she was glowing just like the tree on Christmas vacation!!! We did pretty good other than we had to cut off about 2 1/2 feet to get her to fit the house! Decorated her up and she now completes our Christmas Decor Ü
Christmas tree adventure-$100.00 fuel -$47.00 breakfast -$5.00 tree permit-The memories we created for a lifetime=Priceless

Kolt's First Deer 2012

Kolt has been hunting long and hard this fall and it finally paid off! They were just about to head for home when he spotted this buck about 200 yards away. One shot and that was all she wrote. He was really happy that he got to fill his first deer tag. Way to go Kolt!

Goose Jerky Anyone?

Good to know my boys will eat just about anything! Kyle shot a goose yesterday and before you know it he was in the kitchen making him up a batch of marinate so he could make goose jerky. They make duck jerky all the time and love it so he thought why not try goose. We look like a bunch of rednecks with the smoker out on the front porch!

Gun Powder & Lead

Opening day of the Muzzle loader hunt and Kyle has already tagged his buck! Sent them off to the woods with a little gun powder and lead and they come home with a dead deer strapped to the spare tire of the Jeep- That's what I call a bunch of REDNECKS!!!

Opening Day Youth Duck Hunt

Kolt was excited to head out opening day of the duck hunt. He had a great time and was able to get two ducks first thing in the morning!

Salsa Time

While Shawn was at work and Kolt was up to the cabin with Jackson, Kyle and I kept ourselves busy making salsa. We started at 9am and finished up about 5 pm. We cooked it all redneck style (in the garage on our two burner camp chef.) It's so nice to not have the house smell like salsa for a week. We ended up with 24 quarts and 8 pints out of two huge stock pots. This year we bought all our produce at Pettingill's in Willard. Nothing beats the taste of homemade salsa !!

Boys Only- Camping Adventure 2012

Home Sweet Home @ Alice Lake
They found this old fashioned water fountain- They had to pump it to get the water to come out.
Driving through the creek to get to their camp.
They caught a bunch of fish, the fish were the only known pure lake strain of Bonneville cutthroat trout.
Shawn and the boys headed out for their "Boys Only Adventure" They loaded up the Jeep and off they went to Alice Lake in Wyoming. They had a great time enjoying the great outdoors! The first night they were there, the coyotes were not to happy- they howled and kept them awake most of the night. While they were gone I kept myself busy with my sister- We enjoyed shopping at City Creek, the movies, the Rodeo and all the Miss Rodeo Utah activities.

Jeep'n @ Powder Mtn.

 Air'n down the tires
They call this place The Rock Garden- It's a lot harder and steeper than it looks in this picture.

The view was so pretty looking over the valley.
While the boys were in Yellowstone all week with Grandpa & Grandma Douglas I had to keep Shawn entertained. We decided to meet up with a Jeep club to go on a rock crawl. We met up with them and had breakfast at Village Inn then headed up to Powder Mountain. We had a great time along with a few laughs. After the ride we had dinner at the Huntsville BBQ place called Texas Pride and then stayed the night at our lot on Sour Dough. We ended up seeing 5 bucks so I am sure when the boys hear about it they will be all excited and  planning their next hunt!

We had a fun filled weekend in Park City for Kolt's Lacrosse tournament. We camped in a RV park at the bottom of Jordanelle and then just drove the Jeep back and forth to the games. He played a total of 5 games. Although we did not due to great we still had a fun time.
