Eagle of the Month

Kyle was nominated by his teachers for Eagle of the month at his Jr. High. They select one boy and one girl from the school. I was so proud of him when we found out. He got a nice certificate and a candy bar. While trying to explain to him what an honor it was he said "What good enough for a dumb candy bar?" He is so naturally smart he amazes me. I think he's a tad bit spoiled too!

Brace Face

Oh the joys of being a teenager. Kyle got braces this week and boy is he sore. I am so happy that we decided to get braces for him. His teeth were really not too bad but his bite was a little off -the dentist said this can cause headaches later on so we decided to just go ahead and do both boys at the same time. Kolt will get his retainer on in two weeks and then he will get his braces in about 6 months. I am such a funny girl when it comes to teeth. I notice them first thing on people and I feel that it is my responsibility as a parent to make sure my boys get that perfect smile that they both deserve Ü

Snowmobiling @ Sour Dough

We spent lots of time doing this!
Shawn's Birthday was Sunday and he wanted to take me and try out snowmobiling for my first time. It was fun but man, it's a lot harder than I thought. I thought I could just jump on, hit the gas and go! Nope, not the case. It seems as though you need to be a good acrobat if you don't wanna get stuck. I can defiantly see where people can get lost or even stuck and freeze to death. So many of the signs were totally covered in snow and it just looked so different. We drove up to the lake and if you were not familiar with the area, you would never know there was a little lake underneath you. I think I got a pretty good workout... I am sore from head to toe today.

XX Brace Face Times Two XX

Open wide!
We are going to have a bunch of SILVER at our house pretty soon and no, it's not the kind I get to spend. The boys started the first phase of getting braces. Kyle will get his on next week and Kolt will start out with a retainer at first to help open up and widen the top of his mouth. We figured in the long run it would be easier and cheaper to have them both get them at the same time. I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea to make a batch of homemade soup for the first couple of nights!

Let The Ice Fishing Begin

Shawn and the boys were pretty anxious to get out and ice fish for the first time this year. They have been looking on KSL for months for another snowmobile so they can pack all their gear out and FINALLY they found one this week! The boys think it's pretty cool because now they get their own sled! They had a great time and the weather was really nice, in fact they all came back a little sun burned. They said the fishing was not too hot but the ones they did catch were pretty big ones! As for me, I enjoyed a nice relaxing morning, went to the movies and spent the afternoon doing my favorite thing....Baking. I am always guaranteed to have three hungry boys when they get home Ü

Couples 3D Archery League

Shawn and I started a couples Archery League this week. We shot at 3D targets at all different ranges and animals. They had it set up really fun with trees in the way and everything. It's pretty much for fun but they do keep scores. They will have a new theme each week! They also have a half time shoot each week where a different couple is in charge and has to come up with a "unusual" game and fun prizes! I think we are really going to have a GREAT time! Afterwords we all went out to dinner, the girls giggled while the men enjoyed telling all their hunting re-ride stories! I think it will be so fun to have a guaranteed date night each week! Fun times Ü (look out Shawn, I may just kick yer butt)

Reflections Winner

Before
After (Kolt did all the photo editing himself) Kolt wanted to enter the reflections contest at school this year.He won the photography catagory at Pioneer Elementary and got to move on to the next round which was the Fremont council round where he won award of merit. He did it all by himself and did such a great job! The theme this year was "Together we can" He decided to take a picture of one of our horses. It was so funny to watch him out back trying to get a good picture, we have a really "friendly" horse out back and every time Kolt was just about ready to snap the picture Hamer would nudge him and make the picture go all blurry. When he came back inside he was so upset because it took him forever to get just one decent picture. When he showed us all the pictures we busted up laughing because they were indeed all blurry and some even had a great big nose (hamer's nose in fact) right in the middle of the picture. He also had to write a little paragraph as to why he chose this particular picture. His little theme was " Together we can reach more places and create more memories" He told them how he has a tradition with his dad, brother and sometimes grandpa, where they pack back in on horseback and sleep over for a few nights every summer. They have done this the past 3 years and have had a ball. The fishing is just phenomenal in the back country and I am sure they enjoy not having to have manners and get all cleaned up like when mom goes camping! I think it is so important to create these special times with your parents. I lost my mom at a really young age and would do anything to have her back and healthy. I think sometimes we get so busy in life that we forget about the most important things like the life long memories we can create!

Another year has come and gone. My baby turned 11 years old this week. He had a really fun birthday party with family. His friend party has been delayed a bit (we are waiting for more snow) Kolt wants to go sledding behind the snowmobiles in the hay field behind our house. He is going to invite a bunch of friends and build a big bon fire and cook hot dogs! Kolt is my sweet little snuggle bug- He LOVES to have his back tickled and loves to snuggle each night before going to bed. He loves to watch old westerns and John Wayne is his hero right now. Kolt loves Chinese food and if given the chance he would probably eat it several times a week. He loves sour candy and homemade cookies. On my days off he heads for the cookie jar as soon as he walks in the door! If there is not fresh cookies in there boy do I hear about it!! He is so sweet and is always telling me how much he loves me Ü His favorite horse to ride is Jack and he loves to go bird hunting. We are so blessed to have this little guy in our home. It was not a easy road at first but boy are we happy he stuck with us!

New Years Eve

New Years Eve we went up to the Archery range and played Archery 21. They had lots of yummy snacks, poker chips and the whole nine yards. We all placed our bets, shot at the cards and if your arrow hit the card that's the one you got to keep. If you needed more to hit 21 you could shoot another round for more. It turned out to be alot of fun. After that was all done they hung some play pigeons from fishing line and we all got to shoot at them and they would explode! It was pretty tricky because once someone shot one they would all swing! I think I impressed the boys a tad bit with my archery skills (he he) Look out BOYS here I come Ü

Cancer Sucks

The Monday after Christmas Shawn's dad called and told us he was just diagnosed with Colin Cancer. It hit us like a ton of bricks. We had NO IDEA. I guess come to find out he had found out about the middle of December but did not want to upset anyone around the holidays. He told us on a Monday, had a cat scan on Tuesday and the surgery was on Wednesday. They took out 15 inches of his Colin and about 20 lymph nodes and said things looked good so far. We have not heard about the test results yet. He was in the hospital for a few days and then they were able to bring him home on New Years Day. Hopefully 2011 will be Cancer Free!
We were blessed another year! We all had a really nice Christmas! The boys got spoiled again and Shawn and I did not do too shabby ourselves.
