Miss Rodeo Utah- Queen Contest

Public speaking John Wayne Schultz singing at the fashion show. Chris Wade Miss Rodeo Utah 2009 Western DressesRed, white & blue outfits Chris came out on a real horse and a flag at the very end of the fashion show. It was awesome. My sister and I have had such a fun week at all the Miss Rodeo Utah queen contest activities. It is amazing all the hard work and money spent on these girls to prepare them for this week long contest. We started Tuesday afternoon with the first 2 go rounds of horsemanship. Thursday we went to the public speaking part of the competition and then Friday we went to the silent auction, brunch, reception and fashion show and then that evening freestyle horsemanship. We have been going to the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo every night too! My pictures of horsemanship did not turn out so sorry I can't show you any of that. I was not sure at the beginning of the Fashion show if they would allow pictures so I missed alot of that too :o( The girls had to learn several dances, they did a bunch of modeling and changed into several different outfits. They have to stay in a hotel the whole time and then everyday they have interviews, tests, and rehearsals to learn all the dances for the fashion show. They also have several different appearances and luncheons they have to attend. The girls are also required to attend the rodeo each and every night. Tonight at the Rodeo they will crown the new Miss Rodeo Utah 2010 and she will the represent the great state of Utah in the Miss Rodeo America queen contest in December at the National Finals Rodeo. My sister an I have been attending this contest every year ever since I can remember... I look forward to this fun week and the Rodeo all year long.

Cowboy Up-Ogden Pioneer Days Style

Two of my favorite cowboys! Getting all his gear on
Getting a few words of advice before the ride.
"Cowboy up and hang on"
He rode the calf about 4.12 seconds! (they need to stay on for 6)
He came in 3rd but they only gave out a buckle to 1st place. Proud mama! Kolt decided at the last minute that he was going to ride a calf at the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo. While he was getting all his gear on, I was checking out all the cowboys behind the chutes! Shawn told me if I asked another one if I could have my picture taken with them that he was going to ban my camera so I just smiled and said "Hi". Kolt did a pretty darn good job but there were a 2 other boys there that ride on a regular basis so he did not win but he darn sure gave them a run for the money! I wonder if he could here me cheering him on from the sidelines!

PBR- Date Night

Me with Wiley Petersen Me and my old man... (Shawn gets so embarrassed when I do stuff like this!) We had never seen this bull fighter before and man was he funny. He kept us rolling all night long.
Boot Legger
This was my brother in laws bull that he raised and just barely sold. He had taken him to a bucking futurity and he won, while he was there a stock contractor offered him a bunch of money for him so he sold him right then and there. (I guess it was one of those if the price is right kinda deals!) The stock contractor is taking him all over and doing really well with him. Zack Brown rode him for a 86.5 at this event.
Wow, I don't remember the last time I had so many date nights! I am loving it. The boys will be back Monday so I'm sure they will all come to a screeching halt for a little bit. I got tickets to go to the PBR and so we decided to head down to West Jordan and see what it was all about. It was not the Built Ford Tough Top 45 but it was still fun to go. There were a few of the top riders there but not a whole bunch. Brenden Clark ended up winning the event and set a PBR record of winning 4 straight events! Good times Ü

Double Date

Cisco & Hamer Well the kids have been gone this last week with Shawn's parents up to Lava, Island Park, Yellowstone and Jackson. I have enjoyed a little quite time and relaxation but Shawn is going nuts without the boys. Shawn has been pretty good to take me to the Oakley Rodeo last weekend thatI wanted to go to and then this weekend we are going to the PBR! I decided it was probably time I go and do something he wanted to do so here we are on our double date with Cisco and Hamer. I had to take pictures because I didn't think the boys would believe me that I rode both of these little guys. (I usually like to ride the old horses!) I think when they get home they will be impressed.

I Survived the Man Cave!

The "Man cave" Oops a daisy, This was my little trick on the ATV course. Note to self: Don't look at dead chipmunks on the trail because sometimes a sharp corner is right ahead. Shawn and the boys talked me into going up to our lot and staying in the man cave for the night. We loaded up some stuff and headed up for a bit. That evening we came down to the Huntsville park had dinner and watched the fireworks. We met some of our friends up there so it made it that much more fun. They had a hypnotist and a bunch of stuff going on at the park so the boys thought it was pretty cool. After the fireworks we went back up to the lot, slept over and then rode the 4 wheelers the next day before we came home.

Boys Night Out

Kolt and his buddy Jack Kolt came up with a new trick to help get his bedroll off.
Kyle trying to get a little fishing in before they headed for home.
Shawn, Shawn's dad and the boys headed out Friday night for a boys night out. They packed in on the horses, cooked some dinner, fished and then came home the next morning. The boys LOVE to do this kinda of stuff and I am so lucky they have a dad that does everything with them. I hope they are creating some wonderful memories of all the fun activities they get to do with their dad and grandpa!
